…it means no worries
The Masai Mara is everything your safari dreams could be and more. The thing about safaris is that whether its $50,000 or $500 you are all going to the same place. The goal is never to just see the big 5, shoot for the super 7. Lions, Elephants, Rhinos, Buffalos, Leopards, Cheetahs and Wild Dogs. I promise there will be nothing more thrilling than watching a leopard hunt a zebra and carry it up the tree in its jaw.
Things to note about the Masai. You will want to go during the great migration which is late July to early September. It is one of the most magnificent sites you will ever see. There is quite literally nothing as cool as being apart of one of the most intense moments of the Lion King.
If you’re looking to splurge a sunrise hot air balloon ride is a must. An early morning game drive and a new experience all in one. The skies of the Masai will go from dark to the most intense purple, pinks, and oranges you will ever see. Plus from the top you get to watch the early morning hunt for the predators, elephants walking in hears, and zebra roaming everywhere. The continental bush breakfast is not a bad way to end things.
Keys to a successful safari- A great guide. Francis and Johnson at Athari Tours and Travel Safaris in Nairobi will never disappoint. They know the Masai as well as one could know. They will get you to see super 7 (minus the rhino but hey they’re endangered) without breaking the bank.
As far as timing you shouldn’t need more than 3-4 days unless you are a huge animal lover or going for some sort of photography mission. I promise Zebras will be like seeing horses by the end.
